Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso is the youngest world champion in 2005 at the age of 24 years and 58 days with the Renault team. Following a second championship with Renault in the 2006 season, he left the French team for the Woking-based Mclaren, before returning to Renault after just 1 year.

In Mclaren, he had a tumultuous relationship with Team Principal Ron Dennis when he was not given the status as the Number 1 driver in the Mclaren team. During the Hungarian Grand Prix, he was penalized for holding up teammate Lewis Hamilton deliberately in the pits during the qualifying session. A penalty was also handed out to Mclaren and they were not able to claim any points the drivers collected for their Constructors’ points.

Fernando Alonso was also a key witness in the trial against Mclaren for the spy saga against Ferrari when he provided evidences of several email exchanges with test driver Pedro de la Rosa regarding Ferrari’s set up, leading to Mclaren’s expulsion from the 2007 Constructors Championship.
