Having scored a 5th position in the Suzuka race back in 2002 with Jordan, Takuma Sato moved on to BAR Honda as a test driver before he was being promoted as the teammate of Jenson Button in 2004. However, over at Honda, Takuma did not have a smooth career and he often did not manage to finish the races due to unreliability issues on his car. The same fate did not happen to his then teammate Button, and thus this led to the criticism of Sato's driving style instead. He scored his best finish of a third place on the podium in the US Grand Prix that year.
In 2005, Takuma's career was worse. He managed to score only a single point for the entire season while Jenson Button scored 37 points. He was also known for his rash driving style that often led to many crashes that usually result in the retirement of other racers as well.
However, in Super Aguri, Takuma stepped up to the role of being a team leader and often finished ahead of drivers from teams like Spyker and sometimes even Honda. While his future at Super Aguri has yet to be officially confirmed, many people would definitely be eager to see the Japanese driver remain at the team.
