Kimi Räikkönen Escapes Penalty, While Adrian Sutil Warned

Force India was a very disappointed team - to put it lightly - when Kimi Räikkönen failed to control his car and plunged right into the rear of Adrian Sutil's car and ended what could have been a point-scoring race for the latter. A very incensed Mike Gascoyne launched a formal complaint against the Ferrari driver and demanded that Räikkönen be penalised for the incident.

However, the race stewards have summoned the Finn to their office and interviewed him regarding the incident. As many expected, there would be no penalty imposed on the Ferrari driver. Räikkönen has since issued an apology to Sutil and the Force India team in his press statement, and said that he would apologise to Sutil personally when he meets him.

Adrian Sutil, as if his weekend wasn't bad enough, was warned by the stewards for a separate incident when he overtook 3 drivers under yellow flags on Lap 13. He escapes punishment too.

Nelsinho's Time May Be Up in 3 More Races. Super Aguri Drivers to Take Over Race Seat?

Nelson Piquet Jr, who was hailed as a talented young driver to follow in the footsteps of his race-winning dad Nelson Piquet, is reportedly to have only 3 more races to show his worth to the Renault team.

According to Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell, Piquet Jr's teammate Fernando Alonso's test runs after the Canadian Grand Prix have been scrapped to allow his younger teammate to run the car on all three days.

Rumour has it that the candidates up for Nelsinho's race seat includes former F1 team Super Aguri's drivers Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson.

Nick Heidfeld Knows He Is Not Getting Enough Speed Out of the BMW

Another driver who looks like his career is on the line is BMW's Nick Heidfeld. The German driver, who may be 5th in the Drivers' Championship standings, is no doubt under severe scrutiny for his less-than-impressive race performance lately. While his BMW teammate Robert Kubica had scored 8 points for the team on Sunday, Nick finished the race last (number 14 since 6 drivers DNFed) and contributed nothing to the team.

Dr Mario Theissen has indicated after the poor qualifying performance from Heidfeld that he must get out of the slump and contribute to the team. However, Nick Heidfeld failed to do so on the Sunday race.

Hans-Joachim Stuck and Ralf Schumacher, both formerly Formula 1 drivers from Germany, have voiced their opinions that Heidfeld needs to improve or risk getting his race seat taken away.

Nick Heidfeld has to up his game or there would be no doubt that he would not be part of the 2009 BMW drivers' line up and might have to look for an alternative drive or career. Soccer maybe?
