Canadian GP Prac 3: Rosberg the Surprise Name on Top

Nico Rosberg brought his Williams car to the top of the timesheet for Practice 3 of the Canadian Grand Prix - a sign of things to come for qualifying?

Toro Rosso lost both of their cars to crashes in that single session, with Sebastian Vettel bringing out the red flag as he crashed into the wall and sprinkled the track with debris 15 minutes before the session ended. His teammate Sebastien Bourdais was not in better luck when he hit the concrete wall at Turn 5 and brought out the yellow flags.

Nico Rosberg and Kimi Räikkönen were the two names on the top of the time sheet for most of the time of the session, while Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren could only play the part of a spectator in the third place. Rosberg's teammate Nakajima did well to set the 5th fastest timing behind Ferrari's Felipe Massa.

Nelson Piquet Junior, who finally did better than his senior teammate Fernando Alonso (in a lowly 17th), set the 8th fastest timing before hitting the walls lightly while returning to the pits.

BMW's Nick Heidfeld, who had a relatively fine Practice 2, failed to find his pace again in Practice 3 and was the third slowest ahead of Honda's Jenson Button and Force India's Adrian Sutil, who is looking to continue his fairy-tale performance since Monaco Grand Prix.
