Formula 1 Teams Association Formed

Max Mosley got more than he expected when he issued letters telling the 10 teams in Formula 1 to come up with their proposals on how to cut costs and improve racing - in the form of a strong alliance between the 10 F1 teams.

The Formula 1 teams met in Maranello, Italy at the Ferrari's headquarters on Tuesday. Besides key personnels from the current 10 F1 teams, CVC's F1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone and Donald McKenzie were also in attendance.

The association aims to work together with the FIA and FOM (Formula One Management) to safeguard the interest of the teams, in the form of agreement in "regulations and commercial conditions which will provide a framework for a strong and dynamic sport" as mentioned in the statement issued by Ferrari.

The meeting was said to be 'extremely productive', with Renault's team principal Flavio Briatore expressing his unhappiness at FIA president Max Mosley's absence from the Formula 1 world in the wake of his sex scandal.

"His absence is felt as there's no project for F1.

"The teams feel abandoned." Briatore told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Now Briatore surely would not feel abandoned with a newfound 'band of brothers'. Max Mosley has also vowed to turn his attention back to Formula 1 after he has won the lawsuit against News of the World which reported on the so-called Nazist sexual escapades of Mosley.
