Ferrari looks set to stage a fightback for their 2008 Championship campaign by storming to a 1-2 in the first practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Felipe Massa, who tends to be the better-performing Ferrari driver during practices and qualifying sessions, beat his teammate Kimi Räikkönen to set the fastest timing to the first practice session for this weekend. The two McLarens of Heikki Kovalainen and Lewis Hamilton follow closely behind the two Ferraris.

Fernando Alonso takes up his usual spot a the 5th place, while Timo Glock, who was involved in a high-speed shunt last race, showed strength in his driver mentality as he set the 6th fastest time in the practice session. This is one of the best placed timing the Toyota driver has set and one can draw parallel to Robert Kubica, who suffered a serious shunt at the Canadian GP last year only to return to the very ground and win the Canadian Grand Prix. One thing is for sure, strong drivers are not cultivated by easy victories. Kubica himself follows in the 7th place while his teammate Heidfeld is at 9th.

The Williams' team will have a cause for concern as both of their drivers ended the session in relatively low positions of 16th and 17th. Sebastian Vettel suffered from hydraulic problems and he lost track time but looks to be coming back for the afternoon session coming up in a few hours' time.
