Max Mosley will remain as the FIA's president for at least one more year - till October 2009 as originally planned.

The extraordinary general assembly meeting was held in Paris where the council has to vote if they want Max Mosley to remain as the president of FIA after the sex scandal broke out in the news.

However, Mosley has announced himself that he does not wish to stand in for re-election after October 2009.

Bernie Ecclestone's not so sure about that though.

"The problem is, if he stays until 2009, he will run again," Ecclestone told The Times.

"I am 100 per cent certain about that; no, one million per cent certain. That's what he said. He says: 'I don't have to do anything. There'll be another election and I can stand if I want.'"
