Have you gotten yours yet?

I just got mine from Page One located at Vivo City just over the weekend, and was impressed with the spectacular F1 magazine produced by local media for the very first time.

The magazine, called Guide to Singapore's 1st Night Race 2008, is published by Regent Media Pte Ltd (www.regentmedia.sg), who are also the guys behind the Football Weekly, Wheels Asia, Golf Asia and recently also an EPL definitive guide for all football junkies out there. With the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix taking place just below 1 and a half month away, this magazine is a must-have for all F1 enthusiasts, especially for many out there who have just got introduced to the sport.

Atthe first glance, the magazine, which just cost a mere $5.90 SGD, contains many colourful and big photographs which will be sure to grab the attention to many of those who are attracted by the glamour of the sport.

The magazine then provided an all-rounded perspective of all you need to know about Formula 1 - from Create Your Own F1 Team (the role as a team principal/boss), How to Build an F1 Car and Engineering An F1 Tyre (role of the mechanics and the guys at Bridgestone), to What It Takes To Be An F1 Driver for all F1 driver-aspirants out there.

We'd think that being the boss of an F1 team is simple - all you need is the money and you can assemble the best team you can get. However, this section Create Your Own F1 Team would provide you the insights of all the headaches and hardwork the bosses will have to go through - like sourcing for sponsors, keeping your drivers happy, the need for connections (everyone's a friend!) and so on.

For those who can appreciate the technicalities of the sophisticated F1 car, you will like the sections on How to Build An F1 Car and Engineering an F1 Tyre. The magazine provides the information without the technical jargons and is a guaranteed easy read for even the new fans out there. After reading these sections you might just feel more pain whenever you see a crash and the hardwork of the mechanics (and of course the millions of dollars poured into a single F1 car) going literally into bits and pieces.

If all you are interested in is simply jumping into the car and being the next hotshot in a racing seat, you will want to read What It Takes To Be An F1 Driver. Follow the typical career path of the drivers you see on the F1 grid nowadays - from go-karting at a young and tender age to going to junior formulae, then the regional formulae and finally graduating to be an F1 driver - if you get spotted among the many hopefuls. You will also need top-level fitness, since racing in an F1 car comprises of battling with fatigue from heat, water loss and most of all the G-force as well as concentration needed.

The magazine also provides writeups on the ten teams and 20 drivers in Formula 1 currently, as well as the circuit facts and information of the races on this year's race calendar. A more detailed write up for the Singapore circuit is also provided.

Finally, the magazine provides insight to Understanding F1 on TV. Information of what a blue flag, chequered flag and stuff that you don't see on TV but plays an important part in the F1 progression such as Testing and Practice sessions are explained. Now the next time someone tells you that "Watching an F1 race on TV is just watching 20 cars zoom past", you have a better defense for your favourite sport.

All in all - a great, value buy for just $5.90. The pictures included in the magazine are fantastic, and the information is not too difficult for even beginner-followers to appreciate. So get ready to arm yourself with some inside-knowledge on the world of Formula 1 and you will find yourself in a better position to appreciate this sophisticated sport watched by over 55 million people per race! Get yours in the local bookstores like Times, MPH, Page One, Guardian today!
