Valencia Has 2nd Chance, What About Singapore?

Valencia has a second chance to address the new circuit's problems after the recent F3 and GT races held on the new track just 10 days ahead of the upcoming Valencia GP. But Singapore might not have such luxury.

Though most of the problems identified are minor, one can't help but think about how Valencia has a chance to address this problem, while Singapore, which will also be hosting a street race, would be having the first runs only during the Friday practice sessions on September 26th. Coupled with the challenge of being the first ever night race for Formula 1, there will be issues identified on the 26th September, surely, but one could only hope they will be minor problems that would not affect the race much and can be fixed within a day or so.

One of the problems identified for the Valencia circuit was with newly-laid asphalt, but it looks set to be addressed before the circuit host the Formula 1 race next weekend. "Realistically, there are problems with such a new circuit but the same would be so even for a permanent facility," Spanish motor federation President Carlos Gracia said.

"The important thing is that there was the will to address the problems and we knew how to do it," he told spanish newspaper Dario AS

The teams, except for McLaren Mercedes and Ferrari, made their way down to Singapore to inspect the circuit, the newly completed pit building as well as the floodlight conditions designed by Italy-based company Valerio Maioli S.p.A. Bridgestone has also allocated supersoft tyres for the Singapore Grand Prix, given the street circuit nature and the relatively high temperature. The teams have given their thumbs up for the circuit and lighting facilities, so hopefully there would not be any major problems for the Singapore circuit come the weekend of September 26-28.
